--------Staffs were faultless - always willing to help. They stored our suitcases safely while we did the overnight Halong Bay Junk Cruise (which we booked through there tour office).Walked to everything from our Hotel - not too far to the Lake and the streets of the Old Quarter. The Hotel is situated in a narrow small back street which is a little quieter than many other streets in the area. Rooms were clean and adequate with an in room safe. Would definitely stay there again and would recommend as good value for money safe and with friendly helpful staff.

We couldn't really fault this hotel. Our Superior room was all we needed, clean and with an in room safe. We found the staff very helpful. Their favorite saying was "Don't you worry" after every request which was taken care of immediately. The restaurant attached was a safe place to eat and the quality and service excellent. The travel booking office provided us with a good service and help when booking tours. We would definitely stay there again. The location was good - we walked all over the city from our hotel. The Hotel's Airport shuttle service was also used by us at a cost of USD20- a safer convenient option to a Taxi in Ha Noi. Overall, it is a pleasant experience and a good choice.

---------------Our stay at the Hong Ngoc 1 kicked off our 10 day stay in Vietnam. We got in very late due to an experience with a shady "taxi" at the airport. When we arrived at the hotel around midnight the hotel was dark and the door was chained. My wife jiggled the door which woke up the staff sleeping in the lobby. They quickly got us checked in and into our room. Throughout our 3 day staff there the front desk, housekeeping and restaurant staff were top notch. Just remember to get back to hotel before they lock up for the night at 11:00 pm. The breakfast was included and featured a nice selection of fruit, baked goods, and hot dishes including jook (Chinese rice gruel). Because we had a very early departure on our last morning, the staff packed a quick breakfast for us to tie us over for the early morning flight from Ha Noi to Hue. Nice clean small hotel. Great bargain with helpful, friendly staff. This is a good bargain in Ha Noi
