.........I am a regular patron of this hotel because the service is excellent…Typical of Japanese attention to detail. The rooms though old are reasonably well equip with all the fixtures of a five star hotel. Wide variety of all excellent breakfast...like in particular the coffee and pancake or waffles....unfortunately there is no indoor or heated pool especially during the winter months....the gym equipment is also outdated...but for these 2 shortcomings, I still find the hotel an excellent choice for the business traveler. Benkay is arguably the best Japanese Sushi restaurant in Town, though pricey.

Hanoi is a bustling, noisy city and the Nikko provided an oasis of calm before or after a day out and about. The room was comfortable and quiet, with nice extras like heated Japanese toilet, electric tea kettle, free shoeshine and bottled water. Wonderful breakfast buffet, the staff was extremely pleasant and went "above and beyond" whenever needed, including one Business Center employee's following up on a reservation problem from home. My only major complaint is the exorbitant Internet usage fee of $1/ minute. I would definitely stay there again.

The Nikko met my expectations with a modern, efficient room and the efficiency of a famed Japanese company. Other reviewers here have complained about the limited English of staff, but I did not experience this; in fact, many at the reception desk were quick-witted, funny and charming. The bellhop/door employees were helpful in tracking down my tour company (not affiliated with the hotel) for a Ha Long Bay cruise. The breakfast buffet, which cost about USD $11 with a discount coupon (or about $15 without) was actually better than the $25 breakfast at the Sofitel Metropole.
